GROUNDS PERSON
(PART TIME, FIXED TERM UNTIL DECEMBER 2023)
Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation (MFCF) is the Club’s independent charity of MFC established in 1996 by Club Chairperson, Steve Gibson. The Foundation uses the power of the MFC brand to engage with the community to provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people and adults to maximise their potential to achieve.
A rare opportunity has arisen for a part time Grounds Person who will be based the the MFC Foundation’s Herlingshaw Centre in Eston. Responsible for the maintenance programme of the pitches and facilities based at the Centre under the direction of the Herlingshaw Manager, ensuring excellent playing surfaces for training and matches for MFCF customers. The Centre is a multi-use facility which includes grass football pitches, an outdoor 3G pitch, indoor 3G pitch, changing rooms and classroom facilities.
The Role:
Cutting, brushing and line marking all pitches
Ensuring the grounds are clean, safe and usable by guests and visitors, including ensuring all grounds are clear of litter and all housekeeping completed
Carrying out regular checks on any equipment including, but not limited to, goals and netting, tractor, triple mower, line marker and reporting any issues and/or maintenance requirements
Maintaining the greens areas of the grounds including trimming hedges, plants and weeds and watering all flowers and plants.
Maintaining an inventory of all grounds supplies, tools, etc and ordering goods as required
Responsibility for completing risk assessments and COSHH assessment sheets
Being key holder in order to open/close the Centre, ensuring all security procedures are followed
Assisting the Centre Manager with contractors and renovations on site
Attending appropriate training sessions organised by MFCF
The Candidate:
In depth understanding of grounds maintenance and upkeep needs and the ability to use lawn mowers, triple mowers, tractors and tools, as well as having an understanding of water systems
Be well organised, able to multitask and work to tight deadlines, with minimal supervision and on own initiative
Enjoy working outdoors since there will be a requirement to work during inclement weather for long periods
Be familiar with health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulations
Take pride in work carried out and achievements
Good verbal and written communication skills and be IT literate
Be flexible and able to support match day operations on occasions
Excellent time keeping
Preferable hold Level Two Sports Turf Operative or equivalent
