Coach Core was created by The Royal Foundation in 2012 as part of the Olympic Legacy and aims to create inspirational sports coaches to deliver sport in the community.  Coach Core targets 16-24 year olds who are not in education, employment or training.  The programme delivers an inclusive and impactful sports coaching apprenticeship that develops the talents of young people and provides them with a range of vital skills for sport, work and life.

Coach Core is managed locally by Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation and they work hard to select the right organisations to help shape and nurture the apprentices whilst also understanding that these young people will give so much back in the time they are with you.  They would like to engage a broad range of employers including Leisure Providers, Councils, Sport Foundations, Youth Centres and Sport Clubs.

Being part of the wider consortium of partners brings a host of benefits to employers, enabling them to increase partnership links and develop new provision. Coach Core employers also gain access to the UK Coach Core network and other selected The Royal Foundation partners, helping to open up opportunities and develop new ideas.

Coach Core offer:

• Project management to help build the consortium and bring the right teams together
• High quality education, training and opportunities through our training provider and the network we create with you
• Funding to support the project and creating future links so that the project can thrive long term

In return we ask that employers are:

• Organisations that are committed to help young people gain employment and education through the best possible placements
• Provide ‘in kind’ donations of staff time, resources and training to benefit your apprentices and the wider group when required
• Willing to invest financially over time on the understanding of the short and long term benefits your apprentices and the Coach Core programme can bring
