Middlesbrough Football Club are looking to recruit a Lead Academy Sport Psychologist for our Category 1 Academy, based at the Club’s Training Ground in Hurworth, near Darlington. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, delivering and monitoring psychological support to all registered Academy players and staff, and preparing and delivering an education programme for parents.
THE ROLE
To psychologically profile all players in the designated phases of development, providing group reports and individual feedback when required.
To establish close links with external practitioners and governing bodies to ensure best practice in relation to research development.
To prepare an end of season summary report with future recommendations at each phase of development.
To discuss any psychological issues with the Head of Education and Welfare whilst maintaining professional confidence.
To complete all necessary administrative tasks to meet the requirements of the Academy’s quality management systems and FAPL monitoring, including inputting relevant information to the Performance Management Application (PMA)
To work closely with the Head of Coaching to ensure all coach behaviours are assessed within training and games and develop appropriate strategies in line with Coach Competency Frameworks.
CANDIDATES MUST:
Have experience of working in an elite sporting environment, ideally within youth football.
Be educated to Masters level in Sport and Exercise Psychology
Have completed British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation as a Sport and Exercise Psychologist and be registered with the Healthcare Professionals Council (HCPC).
Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to accurately manage data. Knowledge in the use of the PMA would be advantageous.
Be flexible to working hours to facilitate meeting all the demands of the role including evening and weekend commitments
Have an understanding of safeguarding when working with young people
Be eligible to work in the UK
The salary for the role will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
