The Great North City Games will be hosted in the Tees Valley and we want you to be involved! back to News

For the first time in 2019 the Great North CityGames will come to Tees Valley, on Saturday 7th September, where thousands are expected to enjoy this incredible spectacle in the heart of Stockton town centre. The event will also be televised live for 90 minutes on BBC.

Stockton High Street will be transformed to host world-class athletes from around the globe as they compete alongside the very best of home-grown talent. This will be an action packed major sporting event with opportunities for people of all ages to be inspired and get involved. On the very same day, we’ll also be hosting the Simplyhealth Great Tees 10k, Junior and Mini runs, and we’ll be encouraging people of all ages and abilities to take part and then enjoy the live televised action on the High Street.

Tees Valley Community Foundation, in partnership with Stockton on Tees Borough Council, are offering you a great opportunity to be part of this fantastic event.

We would like to invite schools and community groups to bid to receive a grant up to £1000 to fund projects to animate Stockton Town Centre on Saturday 7th September. We are looking for some creative ideas to bring schools and communities together to celebrate the event, and to showcase the Borough.  Funding may be used to create themed artwork, banners, to provide activities or bring animation to the High Street and Town Centre, or to deliver themed events and initiatives in the lead up to the event resulting in your group or school attending on the day itself.

If you think you have an idea to engage or amaze or would simply like to be a part of this fantastic event, we would like to hear from you!

The deadline for expressions of interest is Monday 25th February. To express your interest in this exciting opportunity, simply send a brief paragraph about your idea to jade.mulhearn@stockton.gov.uk
