A report from Medical Research Council (MRC) and Scottish Government Chief Scientist Office (CSO) has found that pre-existing socio-economic inequalities in use of green and open spaces may have been made worse by the covid-19 lockdown and restrictions.

It concludes that green and open spaces are an essential resource for community wellbeing, and they must be protected and prioritised in any future fiscal squeeze.
