Tees Valley Sport: our support for National Governing Bodies
As the County Sports Partnership for Tees Valley our mission is to improve the quality of life of all residents in the Tees Valley by increasing participation in sport and physical activity. Our support to National Governing Bodies (NGBs) is at the heart of our work and is at the forefront of everything that we do.
We can provide the following services to support the NGBs to deliver their sporting goals and priorities in the Tees Valley.
We have great relationships with a whole host of local delivery partners that can help NGBs to deliver their plans. They include Local Authorities, Further and Higher Education Establishments, Schools, the Health sector, Leisure Trusts, Community Groups, Disability Networks.
We can help to organise meetings with partners and can also attend them to offer support and guidance to ensure positive outcomes for all attendees.
We can provide information about our local landscape that will identify the most appropriate places to organise activity for the best results.
Funding and Investment
Funding workshops: We run these periodically throughout the year and can offer bespoke workshops to NGBs and their clubs on request.
Improving Applications: We review funding applications prior to submission and offer suggestions for improvement. We can also help turn unsuccessful applications into applications that will receive funding.
Partner Support: We signpost funding applicants to local organisations and partners whose involvement will strengthen applications.
Research and Insight: We provide local demographic information that will help to justify the need for funding applications.
Annual Coaching Plan: Our support to NGBs is clearly identified in our Coaching Delivery Plan. We
engage our NGB partners in developing the plan to ensure we are offering the right support.
Coach Bursaries: Our bursaries are to develop new coaches and offer existing coaches the opportunity to further their qualifications. Delivery of NGB programmes and priorities are key to bursaries being awarded.
Leadership Academy: Our Academy engages the best young leaders from colleges throughout the Tees Valley. We provide them with qualifications and offer them opportunities to volunteer in sport.
Professional Development: We provide a comprehensive coach and club development programme through North East Course Finder. We can also offer closed courses where there are sufficient attendees.
Coachweb: We offer support in the form of targeted mailings about funding opportunities, coaching and training opportunities to over 1500 coaches through our Coachweb database.
Clubmark: We offer clubs support to help them to achieve accreditation. As a Clubmark licensed organisation we can also accredit clubs at the request of the NGB.
Development Planning: We offer support to sports clubs to help them to write development plans to enable them to grow and retain membership.
Funding: We offer clubs support by signposting them to appropriate funding bodies, help them to improve their applications and offer demographic information to support their applications.
Marketing: We offer support to clubs to help them to extend their market reach.
Club Development Fora: We attend NGB organised club development sessions and identify local opportunities for them to get involved in.
Marketing and Communications
Tees Valley Sport website: Our website averages over 2000 visitors a month. We help to promote NGB activity and events. We offer each NGB their own webpage on our site that can be tailored to their needs. We help NGBs to promote their work through preparing and sharing press releases with media partners, offer inclusion in our regular electronic newsletter, through direct mailing to customers and through our social media networks.
Workplace Challenge: Our partners have access to over 500 workers in over 100 workplaces in the Tees Valley. We can offer NGBs the opportunity to access the employees at these workplaces and organise activity for them.
Satellite Clubs: This programme links sports clubs with schools and colleges. We can act as broker between the education establishment and the clubs.
Sportivate: We can offer funding support to NGBs to deliver blocks of activity in the Tees Valley.
Street Games: This scheme offers doorstep sports clubs for areas of deprivation. We can offer support to help NGBs to establish clubs with local community groups.
School Games: We can work with our School Games Local Organising Committee to identify the possibility of their sport being included within the Tees Valley Level 3 School Games.
Future Champions: In partnership with Teesside University, this scheme offers sport science support and facility access to 12-18 year old athletes who are likely to reach national or international level.
Pursuit of Excellence Fund: We award grants of up to £1000 for young people aged 12-24 and resident in the Tees Valley, who are excelling in their chosen sport.
