Back in March, we welcomed 12 schools from across Tees Valley to Teesside University for a ‘Dragon’s Den’ project which is part of the wider Creating Active Schools (CAS) pilot taking place across our region.
With the children being a key stakeholder as part of CAS, we created a child led innovation project in which children had to come up with ideas of how to make their whole school more active. This initially involved a group of children coming up with a range of ideas and consulting every child within their school which enabled each child to vote on their favourite idea and have a say.
Children then created a pitch to present to ‘the dragon’s’ at the University as to what their final project was, the funding they needed and most importantly, how their project would get every child in their school more active.
The children were absolutely fantastic with the pitches and a credit to their schools. Westgarth Primary School, Abingdon Primary School and Pennyman Primary Academy
We can’t wait to see the projects in action!
A special thank you to Teesside University, Creating Active Schools, You've Got This, Redcar & Eston School Sport Partnership and Sport England
