If you have ever doubted that Sport and Physical Activity can make a difference to our lives – then watch this short film.
In 2018 Tilery Primary School in Stockton signed up for the Tees Valley Sport Active Schools Programme. This film explores the impacts of the programme for pupils and for the staff at the school.
Through this programme, with the support of Tees Valley Sport, the School have placed Sport and Physical Activity at the heart of their operation.
Active Schools is not just about delivering a strong PE programme. It is about a cultural shift, normalising physical activity as a part of everyone’s everyday life.
One of the teaching team tells how, supported by other members of staff, she learned to learn to cycle. She now has a daily Active Commute.
The programme has rippled beyond the school gate, clearly impacting the wider community.
Being an Active School has supported health and wellbeing, increased confidences and attainment and provided a new vehicle for interaction between staff and pupils.
We are keen for more schools to be part of the programme and to reap the benefits of being an Active School. To find out more please contact Lis Greenwell on 01642 342287 / email@example.com
