Over 2,000 athletes from schools across the Tees Valley are coming together for a fun fuelled day of competitive sport.

Tees Valley Sport is set to host the summer edition of the School Games on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019, with the County Finals taking place at the Middlesbrough Sports Village.

From 9.30am until 2.30pm, children aged between 9 and 14, will take part in activities from athletics, cycling, tennis, rounders, volleyball and badminton

Jean Lordon, Tees Valley Sport Executive Director said: “The School Games are not only a fantastic opportunity for young people to showcase their sporting skill and potential.

They’re an opportunity to honour the ‘Spirit of the Games’ – a set of values that embody the Olympic and Paralympic games.”

The local inter-school competitions that take place at the School Games offer an exciting platform for local sporting talent to showcase their personal best.

The mission behind the event, is to provide young people with a safe opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best with trained Young Leaders – who have dedicated their time to Leadership Academies in their district.
