Redcar & Cleveland have had the most active population within the Tees Valley over the past 4 years closely followed by Darlington.
The least active areas within the Tees Valley are Middlesbrough, Stockton and Hartlepool and there is not much separating them based on the figures.
Compared to the national statistics the Tees Valley are falling behind when it comes to activity levels of the adult population, there was a difference of 5% in 2018-2019 for those meeting the physical activity national guidelines. In turn the levels of inactivity are higher within the Tees Valley than the national average. Hartlepool being notably more inactive over the 2018-2019 period.
From Nov 2015 to Nov 2019 the data shows there has been no significant changes across the Tees Valley in either those meeting the national guidelines and those who are inactive. The figures show that the national average across England has shown a significant increase in those meeting the national guidelines and a significant decrease in the levels of inactivity.
