Coach Education and Development

Coach Education and Development

Supporting our local coach, volunteer and leader workforce is at the heart of the work of Tees Valley Sport. Without these people, community sport as we currently recognise it, would cease to exist.

Coaching Development Manager, Victoria Auton works in close partnership with a range of organisations including; National Governing Body of Sports, Local Authority Sport Development Teams, Further Education Colleges, Teesside University, Local Leisure Providers and Community groups to identify and develop sports coaches and leaders in the Tees Valley.

There is particular emphasis on encouraging more people from under-represented groups to get involved in coaching and sports leaderships. These people then become the role models for others to engage in Sports and Physical Activity.

There are many pathways to sports leadership, through voluntary work, formal education courses, and sports specific coach awards
