Recruit into Coaching
Tees Valley Sport has been chosen by Sport England to be part of the pilot phase of a new national workforce development programme, called Recruit into Coaching. The programme, which forms part of Sport Englands new strategy, aims to engage 4,000 new coaches across England by 2011. Targeted at the 70 boroughs with the highest levels of deprivation in the UK, the programme is funded jointly through Sport England and Youth Sport Trust.
The aim of the programme will be to initially provide opportunities for people living in disadvantaged communities in Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland to gain coaching and leadership qualifications and be supported into a placement opportunity to help deliver community sport provision. Tees Valley Sport will recieve a grant to support this work, with a target of 40 placements to be delivered by March 2009. Further funding is then anticipated for Year 2 and Year 3 of the scheme.
Does your club have a volunteer who may benefit from the training or would you be interested in providing a volunteer work placement? Please contact Martin Jenkins for more details.
