Volunteering

Volunteering

There are nearly 6 million sports volunteers in England today. This accounts for around 26% of total adult volunteering and equates to over 1 billion hours contributed to sport each year!

From coaching to minibus driving, catering, website design and general marketing support, volunteers have a vital role to play in all areas of today’s sports clubs.

With the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games approaching fast even more quality volunteers are going to be needed. The Games, a unique global celebration of sport, will ultimately involve up to 70,000 volunteers from all around the world – and you could be one of them!

Volunteering Opportunities

Tees Valley Sport can offer people of all ages many different opportunities to volunteer in sport. We can help find you suitable placements and are committed to providing training, to ensure your placements are a success.

We have a strong network of volunteer organisations including; local authority sports development teams, National Governing Bodies of Sport and many local sports clubs – all of which can provide fantastic volunteering opportunities.

Why volunteer?

Volunteers are the life blood of all sports clubs and organisations. Without them many clubs and sport organisations simply couldn’t survive. In today’s sporting world volunteers can work in a variety of different and interesting roles, many of which can help with future career plans as well as providing an opportunity to simply be involved.

As well as the very sport focused roles such as coaching and event volunteering there are many other areas to consider, such as;

  • fund-raising
  • transport support
  • website design
  • marketing support

What are the benefits?

Today’s sport volunteers can gain a massive amount of personal benefit from their placement, such as;

  • Learn new skills
  • Improve your CV
  • Share talent and abilities
  • Give something back to sport
  • Gain self-confidence
  • Make new friends
  • Rewards and recognition
  • Training and support
  • And most importantly, have FUN!!

All you need is passion, commitment and an enthusiasm for sport!
