Water Skiing

Image

Waterskiing is a sport where an individual (or more than one individual) is pulled behind a motor boat or a cable ski installation on a body of water. The skier is either wearing one (slalom) or two (double) skis. The surface area of the ski (or skis) keeps the person skimming on the surface of the water allowing the skier to stand upright while holding onto a tow rope.

British Water Ski & Wakeboard could not run without the vast number of volunteers who week in and week out support the sport through coaching, officiating and the administration of the sport. There is so much good work going on that they don't get to hear about. We would like to recognise the volunteering that is so vital in our sport, the hunt for Volunteer of the Year has begun!

This year there are two categories

• Young Volunteer of the Year (25 years old or under)

• Volunteer of the Year (for the more mature of us!)

Please nominate someone from your club, region or discipline it can be anyone who is a member of British Water Ski & Wakeboard and volunteers within the sport.

Check out the British Water Ski & Wakeboard website for further information - www.bwsw.org.uk

The closing date is Friday 16th December 2011.
