Disabled Swimmers Talent their Skills
The first Tees Valley swimABILITY Talent Development Camp took place at the Neptune in Middlesbrough on 28th - 30th May 2008. The camp, hosted by Tees Valley Sport and funded through Awards for All and the lottery, gave children and young people with a range of disabilities the opportunity to bridge the gap between lessons and club swimming.
Eleven young swimmers, aged between 8 and 15, took part in the three day camp, during which they learnt an array of skills, including; developing a variety of stokes, using equipment including flippers and pace clocks, diving, water polo and water skills.
Instructors from across the Tees Valley were very pleased with all the swimmers progression – presenting each of them with a certificate and medal following the camp.
It is now hoped that all the swimmers will continue to develop their swimming at other sessions widely available across the Tees Valley.
