2007 Npower Disability Festival
The 2007 npower Active Tees Valley Disability Swimming Festival organised through the Tees Valley Sport Partnership took place at the Neptune Centre, Middlesbrough with teams from primary schools across the Tees Valley taking part.
The event opened with a fun Aqua-fit warm-up session before a good mix of swimming races and fun festive relays kept not only the children entertained but also the teachers and helpers.
The competition event was close run, with Holmwood Dolphins from Holmwood School, Middlesbrough eventually claiming victory. In second place were the ‘Kirkleatham Kippers’ from Kirkleatham Hall School, Redcar and Cleveland, with third place going to the ‘Darlo Divers’ from the Education Village, Darlington.
Jane Roche, the Swimming Development Officer for the Partnership said; “It’s great to see children with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties taking part in this event. We hope that events like this can be a stepping stone into lessons and also strengthen links with clubs, allowing for improved talent identification in the region.”
