• Rounders has been played since Tudor times with the earliest reference in 1744 in 'A Little Pretty Pocket Book'
• Rounders is the top game played in lessons for young people - Young People and Sport National Survey
• Rounders is the most popular sport in lessons for secondary school girls - Young People and Sport National Survey
• Rounders and tennis were the only two sports to increase participation in schools between 1999 and 2003, despite the claim that girls football is the fastest growing girls sport - Young People and Sport National Survey 2003 (conducted by MORI for Sport England) note - this fact not collected in the 2006 or subsequent surveys
• Rounders is played in 89% of all schools - 'The School Sport Survey 2008'
• Rounders is played in over 45 Adult leagues throughout England, with players participating from ages 14 to the late 60's. In adult leagues the most common age range is 25-35. The oldest registered player is 81.
• 72,000 adults play rounders on a weekly basis in England (Active People survey 2008)
