Retention Figure Analysis
A review of the delivery of Sport Unlimited in Year 2 of the three year scheme has shown a considerable improvement in the retention of young people on the programme. The Sport Unlimited programme allows anyone aged between10-19 the chance to try out new sports under the expert guidance of qualified coaches.
During the first year of the programme a total of 1775 young people were retained on the programme against a target of 3026. The second year of delivery has seen a big increase in young people accessing the exciting taster programmes with 5319 retained against a target of 5187. The young people must take part in at least 8 of the 10 week taster sessions to be included in the retention figures.
Special mentions must go to Hartlepool and Middlesbrough who made a big increase on their annual targets and Stockton who also exceeded their targets. All local authority programmes have shown an increase on the previous year’s figures and we are hopeful this trend will continue in Year 3 with over 190 taster activities planned through until March 2011. A breakdown of the retention figures over the past two years for local authority areas can be viewed below.
