North East Coach and Leader Website
Gemma Grainger, the only female Level 4 football coach in the North East was one of the first coaches to register on the North East Coach and Leader website . Developed by Tees Valley Sport, it will provide coaches, leaders and volunteers with access to training opportunities, latest news from the world of coaching, funding to support qualifications, and access to employment and deployment opportunities. It is free to enrol and will be a great boost to coaches at all levels ranging from newly qualified volunteer coaches in clubs to experienced professionals delivering in schools and colleges.
Gemma Grainger, who is from the Tees Valley and is one of the region's most experienced and qualified coaches is excited at the opportunities the website will provide.
Gemma says " Having a one stop shop for all coaches, leaders & volunteers through Tees Valley Coach, Leader & Volunteer Web will give people involved in sport immediate, free and easy access to all the support, information & opportunities that will help them reach their personal goals"
Since starting coaching at the age of 18 Gemma has progressed to a full time coaching career at an elite level in female football. She recognises the importance of being part of Tees Valley Coach, Leader & Volunteer Web to help coaches achieve their sporting ambition.
Gemma is now currently the Head Coach FA U15s Girls' Elite Performance (North), Technical Director Teesside Girls Centre of Excellence and Great Britain Universities Women's Head Coach. She was previously Leeds United Ladies First Team Manager, Head Coach Middlesbrough Centre of Excellence Under 16 squad & Middlesbrough Centre of Excellence Director.
Gemma encourages anyone involved in delivering sport and physical activity to register on the system and says "It is a great way to feel connected to a support system for people delivering sport for all ages, abilities and experience across a variety of sports in the Tees Valley. It is nice to know that this support is available and I would encourage anyone who is involved in delivering sport to register so they can benefit from being involved in the Tees Valley coaching community".
Tees Valley Sport has joined up with Teesside University's sport science team to offer a coach the opportunity win a physiological assessment valued at £150. By registering coaches will automatically be entered into a draw being held on November 30th to win a free testing session at Teesside University.
