Games Maker Selection Event
Volunteers have been integral to both Summer and Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games since they were used for the first time at London 1948. So in 2012, the volunteer programme will be coming home to the city where it all began! The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is seeking to attract, recruit, select, and train up to 70,000 'Games Makers' to volunteer during London 2012 - representing the largest workforce mobilisation in peace time the UK has ever seen.
The application window closed on the 27th October, and we've been delighted with the level of public response. To help us find the best and most passionate Games Makers we are planning on inviting and interviewing up to 120,000 candidates on a face-2-face basis at one of our selection events.....and this is where we would like your help.
We need approximately 50 committed and passionate volunteers to help out with our selection event at Baltic Centre Newcastle between 19 May and 3 June 2011.
As a selection event volunteer, you'll conduct interviews, support the check-in desk and provide information to Games Maker applicants. We need volunteers to help out for a minimum of four shifts, and we'll provide one mandatory day's training in competency-based interview skills at Baltic Centre on 7th May 2011.
If you're interested in applying, please find the enclosed selection event volunteer application form. If you have any questions about being a selection event volunteer, please read our FAQ document. We want London 2012 to be everyone's Games, and this means having a diverse selection event volunteer team. To help us check how we are doing, we'd like all selection event volunteer applicants to complete the diversify and inclusion form.
Applications will close at 5pm on 14 January 2010.
