Learn the basics of coaching and umpiring cricket in this fun one day course. The course is suitable for young people aged 14 - 16 years old who have an interest in cricket.

Course Details:

The course enables candidates to learn the basics of coaching Kwik Cricket in a fun and safe environment.

Candidates on the course will learn the rules, the skills and the practices to help them to lead safe sessions to young people. The course will also teach candidates how to plan activities and how to deliver them effectively.

Candidates can choose to gain an extra certificate by completing 10 hours of volunteering with a local club or at various schools' tournaments.

By the end of the course candidates will:

  • Have knowledge on the basic rules and skills of cricket.
  • Understand the difference between what to coach and how to coach skills.
  • Know how to set up and deliver safe activities to small groups.
  • Explain the principles of warming up and cooling down.
  • Be able to assess and minimise risk when running a coaching session.

Time: 9.30am till 4pm
Venue: Thornaby Cricket Club.
Prerequisites Aged 14 - 16 years
