Advanced Apprenticeships in Sporting Excellence AASE Boxing
The Amateur Boxing Association of England and England Colleges Amateur Boxing Association (ECABA) have selected six colleges/further education providers to become designated High Performance Boxing Centres for aspiring boxers aged 16-19 years.
This exciting opportunity is for elite and aspiring boxers to train full time in boxing whilst gaining valuable educational qualifications at the same time by continuing their personal development.
The Advanced Apprenticeships in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme is a combination of educational opportunities and high performance boxing training where students, both male and female, can earn qualifications through their education and boxing development. AASE is delivered over a period of 2 years.
AASE is a government supported and funded initiative (implemented and developed by the ABAE's partners SkillsActive).
There are limited places available at Gateshead College's ABAE High Performance Centre, it is therefore essential that you register prior to attending the assessment date details are listed below.

Gateshead College's ABAE high performance centre will have a full time coach leading the programme who will work closely with local boxers and their club coaches to help further develop each boxer to reach their full potential. The strength and conditioning training, physiotherapy and bespoke nutrition programmes provided at Gateshead College will be in addition to the training that goes on within the club.
Through AASE the ABAE hopes to provide talented young boxers the opportunity to fulfil their potential and progress into future England and GB international boxers, whilst also seeking to develop athletes in other areas such as sports science, sport development, elite coaching or sports administration and develop into the ABAE's leaders of the future.
Paul King Chief Executive of the ABAE said 'The ABAE sees the implementation of the AASE programme as an essential part of our Long Term Athlete Development player pathway and legacy planning. This life-changing opportunity will also offer students the chance to qualify for external educational qualifications such as GCSEs, A Levels or equivalent vocational qualifications in a wide range of subjects, chosen by the individual, with college guidance'.
