2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Consultation Invitation

HOW DO WE MAKE THE MOST OF THE OPPORTUNITIES PRESENTED BY THE OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC GAMES?

The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games presents the biggest single opportunity for a generation to inspire and motivate more people to become involved in sport and active leisure. Although a lot of the opportunities will be focussed in the south-east of the country, the Sports Development team has an ambition to make the most of the opportunities presented by the games to benefit Middlesbrough. In particular we want to use the interest generated to increase the number of people being active and participating in sport.

Middlesbrough Sports Development currently developing a delivery plan for 100 days of activities, which will take place from the 1st May 2012 until the closing ceremony on 8th August 2012. To help shape the plan and to ensure that the programme is as creative and diverse as possible we are holding two consultation events. We would like the plan to represent all the activities taking place in Middlesbrough over this period so not only what we are doing but also what you are doing. Nearer the time promotional material will be used to advertise the finalised programme of activities.

The events will take place at The Southlands Leisure Centre, Ormesby Road, Middlesbrough, TS3 0HG. The days and times are below:

Thursday 2nd June 6 - 7.30

Tuesday 7th June 4 - 5.30

Please come along to one of them and discuss your ideas and plans, however tentative, and help develop a programme that will use the inspiration power of the games to benefit the people of Middlesbrough.

Please confirm your attendance to Sheila Boyes, Community Sport Network Officer, 01642 515613 or sheila_boyes@middlesbrough.gov.uk
