Funding for Clubs

Setting up and running a sports club takes time and money.

However, there are many local and national organisations that you can apply to for funding, for example to buy equipment, and help promote and develop your club.

Each of the local authorities in the Tees Valley helps coordinate a Community Sports Network (CSNs). These networks have been established to help develop sport and physical activity, and can help support clubs with funding ideas.

Additional support is also available through External Funding Teams in each of the local councils. They are happy to work with clubs and have access to extensive funding programmes.

Useful contacts for the CSNs are;

  • Darlington – Gemma Saunders
  • Hartlepool - Maxine Glew
  • Middlesbrough - Louise Morris
  • Redcar and Cleveland - Michelle Kirkbright
  • Stockton-on-Tees - Kelly Parsons

You will also find a lot of useful information on all aspects of funding on these websites:

Sport England
This site includes a list of recognised national governing bodies that can help you find funding.

Awards for All
Provides grants of between £500 and £10000 for projects in local communities across the UK. You can download an application form and get advice on making your funding application.

Sportsmatch
If you have got commercial sponsorship for a sports project, you can apply to Sportsmatch for further funding. Funding for this programme has been allocated for the remainder of financial year 2007/2008.
