Free online training for volunteers

The Advocacy and Activity Buddy Scheme (AABS) aims to increase the number of disabled people participating in sport or physical activity through the use of trained volunteers.  AABS has developed a toolkit incorporating lots of information clubs and activity groups can use to establish a successful volunteer programme to support their disabled participants.  The resources are available to download now from the EFDS website by clicking 'volunteering' and then on the 'Advocacy & Activity Buddy Scheme' link to the left hand side of the page.

For those clubs or facilities that already have a volunteer programme in place AABS has developed training material directed towards volunteers that will empower them to support disabled people confidently to participate in both mainstream and disability sport and activities.  The training is available through a paper based resource, power point workshop and an online training site.  As with all resources and templates, the online training is available free of charge to everyone.  Click on the link, register your details and have a look through the training.  The volunteers can be self taught through the online training and then only the usual induction and health and safety training to be undertaken by the club or facility.
