Wilton Hockey Club
Wilton Hockey club has being running since 1947 and now has 3 senior teams, a junior team and a touring side. Their 3 senior sides currently play in the North East Division 1,3 and Conference South.
The club is keen to establish links with schools and the local community in the areas of South Bank, Eston, Normanby, Grangetown and Thornaby. The key to this is to provide qualified coaches who can encourage more young people to take up the sport through coaching work in schools and after school clubs.
The club have plans to use the Club Benefits Package to support 7 new Level 1 coaches, 4 Level 2 coaches and 1 Level 3 coach. 11 club members have also committed themselves to attending the Generic Course Programme including Safeguarding and Protecting Children and First Aid courses.
Tees Valley Hockey Development Officer Anne Whitworth says;
“Wilton Hockey Club have an excellent background in bringing on young players and helping them to progress into competitive hockey. The training support through the Club Benefits Package will help them to expand the number of skilled coaches and ensure that they have a safe environment to expand their provision for junior players in the community.”
