Brierton Community Sports Centre Badminton Club

The club were founded in 2002 and successfully awarded Clubmark in 2004, which gives them Badminton England Premier Club status. From its outset the club has always actively supported and encouraged the youth of the community and operates a flourishing junior section. It is the largest badminton club in Hartlepool and runs successful teams in the local Tees Active Leagues.

The club was one of the first to sign up to the Club Benefits Package - recognising the opportunity to gain access to the free Generic Course Programme and 50% funding towards NGB courses. A number of club members are looking to access these training courses, including; Equity in your Coaching, How to Coach Disabled People in Sport and Motivation and Mental Toughness. These are in addition to NGB Level 1 and 2 courses.

The club currently has more than 60 members and 20 regular pay and play members in addition to this. Tony Evans, Club Secretary, said;

"Being part of the Tees Valley Sport Club Benefits Package will enable us to qualify more coaches, which will in turn give us the opportunity to provide more badminton opportunities for the community of Hartlepool. This will help us to support the development of exciting new initiatives such as the Sport Unlimited Programme which will allow us to target new audiences, encourage more people to try badminton, and ultimately to join our club."
